practice your german reading and listening skills

This reading course contains an exciting criminal story. It’s a German easy reader that is accessible even to absolute beginners.

Follow Simone and Stephan, a seasoned detective and her still inexperienced assistant, on their hardest case so far.

Learn up to 2000 new words for the levels A1-B1, and listen to the audio recordings which immerse you in the story to enhance your learning experience. A slow-speed recording allows listeners to familiarise themselves with new words, and our unique ‘binaural’ recording fuses German with an English translation.

You will receive an extensive exercise book designed to deepen and consolidate your knowledge even more.

Each chapter of the book is accompanied by a video in which I walk you through every single sentence, analysing its grammar, to demonstrate how closely related German and English really are.

When used in combination with my “How to Learn German Faster” course and my “German Grammar Course A1–B1” this learning pack contributes to a complete, highly efficient and immersive German course.

It is the result of over 16 years of teaching German with over a thousand students and continuous research in the field of language learning.

Vielen dank for this excellent tutorial. Please! Continue with this style of story German reading lessons. This way of learning works so much besser for me as I have a difficult memorizing. I got more out of this lesson than I have from reading a regular german tutorial book. And you’re right! When you say that this way of learning will stick more into our minds. I realize that his must take a lot of your time, But! I myself truly appreciate it. Great work! What I have learned from now having to learn German is how much English grammar that I have forgotten about, and just simply taken my mother language for granted. Therefore, now that I am having to learn Deutsch! I’ve come to realize that I learning Deutsch is not easily fro me because of my weak grammar knowledge. And I truly believe most of us English speakers struggle with learning new languages (Deutsch), is simply because we lack English grammar knowledge. So, I hope that this comment/feedback will help You to help reach us.

    Vielen dank!

Thank you Eric. I am happy to read that you like this work of mine. I am currently trying to give birth to as many lovely ideas that I have every day that will change the way we learn languages and that I can leave behind to inspire others like me to push the limits of efficient and joyful learning even further. Do you already know our new verb position songs or authentic German loops? Take a look at our shop. You can listen to them for free for a few times. I listen to them daily because they are just beautiful and full of Margareth’s genius. My best wishes to you and viel Erfolg mit Deinem Deutsch.

I’ve been a fan and a follower of Mr. Schmitz for over a year, I first saw his courses on Udemy then I followed him on Youtube and so on … Let me assure you that he is an expert or better say a master in his field, in addition he is very knowledgeable of the English language which makes his lessons very effective as he knows the weaknesses in which English speakers face.

As for this course I am really enjoying it so far. Have you ever wanted to put all the theory you know into practice? Well you are in the right place, basically in this course you will be able to read and listen to an interesting story and the tutor will deconstruct it for you, which make it very interesting for me because while you are enjoying the story your grammar, vocabulary and knowledge will be enriched as Mr. Schmitz explains the meaning of the story along with the various grammar rules such as accusative, dative, genitive and so on. I find it a very interesting way to learn and to review what you know, and as I mentioned above the tutor has a very good knowledge of the English language, therefore he makes use of techniques that really sticks to the head for example it really worked for me when he talked about how to not mix up Gesicht and Geschichte, I have always mixed these two.
A bottom line investing in this course or any course created or recommended by Mr. Schmitz is an awesome bargain.

p.s. Mr. Schmitz, I like your ‘dry humor’, it always gives me a smile while keeping my attention on the lesson, and I would like to finish with Ich bedanke mich sehr herzlich bei Ihnen für Ihre Hilfe und Ehrlichkeit!

Michael uses association techniques for you to remember words at a more expedited pace. I think with the Reading course along with the Grammar A1-B1 course, you are better off than attending a course provided by the state. I only have used 10-15% of his material and majority of my time was spent on the actual German course. I don’t feel prepared for the test even after 5 weeks of attending class. Most of my classmates spend majority of their time outside of class learning grammar which is really not explained in a thorough manner in class. First use his material, followed by an A1 or A2 book. Also, the recommended sites are very useful in my opinion in contrast to an intensive course. The only reason why I am not using the sites he listed in German A1-B1 book is because of latency issues with my internet which will be upgraded in December. I live in a small rural area in Germany. I can’t compare this to Goethe because I haven’t utilized their services. If you dedicated all that time with his recommendations, just test out of A1 or A2. I made a mistake signing up for the Deutsch course. My proficiency level is probably below A1, but I have learned at a faster pace using his material in contrast to the Deutsch course. In my opinion, I feel that I am wasting my time in the Deutsch course because you can find the answers to the book online. Also, the explanations aren’t as thorough in contrast to how he explains the language. This is also from a video where you don’t get feedback.

Ich danke Dir Paul. I will publish an interview with a client of mine who is forced to sit in an integration course for four more month to finally achieve B1 level. Our aim is to get him through the normal B1 exam within 2-3 weeks and try to get him free from this ridiculous obligation as he is clearly far beyond that level. Group courses are always a colossal (!) waste of time when compared to private tutoring or thoroughly planned self-learning. By the end of 2017 I will have published a course that will help German learners to achieve B1 step by step on their own as I can’t watch this travesty any longer. My best wishes to you and viel Erfolg mit Deinem Deutsch. Michael

I have been learning German for a while but not making sufficient progress, I have just signed up to your course and found this tutorial, which I could translate so something has already gone in but think your way of teaching will really help me.
    Vielen Dank
