How the superhero technique works
Instead of memorising der, die and das as abstract labels, you attach each gender to a vivid character and let the character act on the noun. The picture does the remembering for you. I explain the full method in the superhero technique post.
When to use it
From day one. Genders are not advanced grammar, they are vocabulary, and every noun you learn without its article is a noun you will have to learn twice. Five minutes a day keeps the backlog at zero.
