Passive – Perfekt Tense

All that's required to create the Passive in the Perfekt form is to put "werden" into its Perfekt form, the past participle or as we call it in German: The Partizip II.

werden > ist... worden

A few examples. First a passive sentence in the Präsens form, then in its Präteritum form and finally in its Perfekt form just to show you the evolution of this word:

1. Das Bier wird getrunken. --- PRÄSENS
2. Das Bier wurde getrunken. --- PRÄTERITUM
3. Das Bier ist getrunken worden. --- PERFEKT
4. Weil das Bier getrunken worden ist, ... --- PERFEKT IN DEPENDENT CLAUSE

1st REMINDER: There is no difference in meaning between the Präteritum and the Perfekt. Don't listen to anyone who tries to tell you otherwise. They are mistaken.

2nd REMINDER: Never use "geworden".

Kleine Übung
